Analysis results 
On June 13 and 14, 2024, Astana hosted the National Conference on Infection Prevention and Control, organized by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by Anna Goncharova, Director of the Department of Epidemiological Control at UMC and Gulnur Nadirbekova, Director of Nursing at UMC.
The participants discussed the implementation of the infection prevention and infection control system in the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented the results of a National study on the simultaneous prevalence of infections associated with medical care and the use of antimicrobial drugs in Kazakhstan, and identified priority issues that need to be addressed and outlined further steps to improve the infection prevention system.
A letter of appreciation was presented to UMC clinics for their participation in the national PPS study. UMC was also nominated as a school of best practice in the field of infection control.
