“University Medical Center” Corporate Fund was founded pursuant to the decision of the board of trustees of the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University” dated 20 September 2015 on the basis of subsidiaries of the joint stock company “National Medical Holding”
“University Medical Center” Corporate Fund (UMC) was founded pursuant to the decision of the board of trustees of the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University” dated 20 September 2015.
UMC, with a capacity of 475 in-patient beds and 500 out-patient ambulatory examinations per shift, combines three innovative medical centers: Diagnostic Center and Mother and Child Center.
In 2016, UMC founded the Kyzylorda branch office; also in 2017, the National Scientific Center for Oncology and Transplantation (NSCOT) joined UMC. However, in the beginning of 2019, the NSCOT was legally placed under the authority the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since joining the unified cluster, medical organizations have successfully fulfilled their goals for the transfer of innovations to the country’s regions, introduction of advanced medical technologies and internationally accepted quality and safety standards of medical care (Joint Commission International).
As part of the integrated academic system of health care of Nazarbayev University, “University Medical Center” Corporate Fund attracts foreign specialists as “mentors” and arranges international master classes on the territory of their clinics to create a competitive generation of medical personnel, to develop modern protocols for diagnosis and treatment of rare, heavy and untreated forms of diseases, as well as to improve medical care quality.
“University Medical Center” Corporate Fund pays particular attention to the issue of compliance to international quality and safety standards of medical care of Joint Commission International, including by using methodology of continuous improvement of quality, advanced training of medical personnel in leading medical institutions of the world, introduction of the patient-oriented system of medical care based on the recommendations of mentors from Switzerland in the field of hospital service.
The UMC structure is formed by the centralized corporate center and 2 medical centers with a strong vertical management in the following functional directions: finances, personnel appointment, procurement.
UMC is a part of the integrated academic healthcare system of Nazarbayev University (NU Medicine).
NU Medicine was initiated by Nazarbayev University based on international standards and in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) and its Medical Center (UPMC).
In order to carry out this joint activity the Memorandum of Cooperation on development of the integration of clinical, educational and research activities has been concluded between UMC, Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSOM) and the Center for Life Sciences (CLS),
The purpose of the system is to promote the healthcare of Kazakhstan through the integration of clinical, educational and research activities. This integration has enormous advantages; it will contribute to the provision of modern medical education and will act to raise the standards of healthcare, focused on the patient and his family, at UMC Centers.
