Republican Center for Orphan Diseases has started its functioning on the basis of the UMC | Корпоративный фонд "University Medical Center"

On June 1st 2024 the Republican Center for Orphan Diseases has started its functioning on the basis of the University Medical Center. The opening of the Center was attended by Akmaral Alnazarova, Minister of Healthcare, Dinara Zakiyeva, Commissioner for the Children’s Rights in Kazakhstan, Massimo Pignatelli, Vice President – Dean of the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, Yuriy Pya, Chairman of the Board of UMC as well as by invited experts.

The main goal of the Center is to improve medical care and the quality of life of patients with rare diseases and become a focal point for the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of long–term results of therapy for rare diseases.

“The creation of the Center will eliminate a fragmented approach to the diagnosis and treatment of orphan diseases and ensure coordinated efforts by the medical community to improve the availability of highly specialized care, search for effective treatment methods and develop diagnostic systems,” shared Akmaral Alnazarova, Minister of Healthcare.

As part of the opening of the Center, the Minister visited children with orphan diseases receiving treatment at the UMC, congratulated on Children’s Day and wished a faster recovery.
