Analysis results We are thrilled to announce the opening of the Internal Medicine Fellowship Programs in different specialties at the University Medical Center (UMC) in collaboration with the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSOM) for the following programs:
– Endocrinology
– Gastroenterology & Hepatology
– Nephrology
– Cardiology
These programs present a unique opportunity for aspiring medical professionals to further their expertise in these specialized fields of internal medicine, guided by experienced doctors of their field.
About the UMC –NUSOM Fellowship Programs:
A fellowship is the subspecialist training in the field of internal medicine disciplines, received after the completion of a post-graduate residency program officially recognized in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During a fellowship, the physician (or “fellow”) works closely with a specialist to deepen their experience and knowledge of their subspecialty.
This Program is offered to doctors specialized in General Internal Medicine (namely, those who completed a 3-years residency program in General Internal Medicine at NUSOM or in another residency program accredited by the Ministry of Health)

Duration of the program is 2 years for Nephrology and Endocrinology fellowships and 3-years for Cardiology fellowship and Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship.
At the end of the program, you will get a qualification of the internal medicine subspecialist in the above listed fellowship subspecialties.
Application Process:
Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications for the Fellowship Program. The application period begins on October 1 and closes on October 20. Please ensure you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- A completed residency in general internal medicine or other residency program accredited by the Ministry of Health
- IELTS with overall score 6.5
- A strong academic record.
- Certificate of specialist in general internal medicine or other specialty
- Letters of recommendation from at least two faculty members or mentors.
- A well-crafted personal statement outlining your career goals and motivation to join the chosen fellowship program.
Important Dates:
- Application Period: October 1 – October 20
- Interview Period: October 23-25 2023
- Program Start Date: November 6 2023
