Analysis results From August 31 to September 3, a pediatric ophthalmic surgeon at the UMC Mother and Child Center, Zhansaya Baigabyl participated in the European VitreoRetinal Society meeting (EVRS). The Congress was held in Cappadocia, Turkey.
About 500 specialists from 53 countries of the world took part in the event. The UMC specialist provided a report based on a clinical case when an intravitreal drug was administered to a child admitted with stage 4 retinopathy. In turn, this method of treatment helped to preserve the patient’s visual functions without resorting to vitreoretinal surgery. The report caused the interest of foreign colleagues and an interesting discussion.
All the subtleties of vitreoretinal retinal surgery in newborns, which is currently not performed in Kazakhstan, were discussed at the Congress. Also, a master class on early vitreoretinal surgery was held for the participants of the event.
