Analysis results By the decision of the Managing Council of the autonomous organization of education «Nazarbayev University», Yuriy Vladimirovich Pya was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of «University Medical Center» Corporate Fund.
The world-famous cardiac surgeon Yuriy Pya made a significant contribution to the development of healthcare in Kazakhstan. Under his leadership, «National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center» JSC (hereinafter – NSCSC) was founded, where unique cardiac surgery operations are performed. Since the opening of NSCSC, it has become an international clinic, and is one of the top 22 best cardiac surgery clinics in the world. Since 2011, for the first time in the CIS countries, doctors of NSCSC began to perform operations on the implantation of circulatory assist devices. In 2012, Yu.V. Pya performed a donor heart transplantation operation for the first time in the region, and in 2016 for the first time in the republic performed lung transplantation, which is one of the most complex operations in transplantology. In 2017, under his leadership, for the first time internationally, a fully artificial heart was implanted. One of the highest achievements of NSCSC is the world’s first operation of implantation a fully implantable left ventricular device in December 2018. NSCSC is also a curator of high-tech multi-stage cardiac surgery for newborns and children of the first year of life.
As a graduate of the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute named after N.I.Pirogov, in different years Yuriy Vladimirovich worked in countries such as Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey. In 2003 he returned to his homeland, and laid the foundation for the development of the cardiac surgery service in Kazakhstan. In the period from 2003 to 2010, he worked at the «National Scientific Medical Center», since 2010 he has been the head of NSCSC. It is worth noting that Yuriy Pya will also continue to work at NSCSC as Director of Surgery and Science.
Yuriy Vladimirovich Pya is the owner of the state award «Kazakhstannyn Yenbek Yeri», a knight of the «Kurmet» Order and the «Parasat» Order. Winner of the «Patriot of the Year» title at the V National Forum of Patriots of Kazakhstan, laureate of the «Altyn Adam» international prize in the nomination of «Doctor of the Year – 2012».
Professor Zhumadilov Zhaksybay Shaimardanovich, who previously headed «University Medical Center» Corporate Fund, will continue his career as General Director of the «National Laboratory Astana» PI and Professor of the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine.
«University Medical Center» Corporate Fund unites the leading medical centers of the country, including National Research Center for Maternal and Child Health, National Children’s Rehabilitation Center, Republican Diagnostic Center, Kyzylorda branch of «UMC» CF. The Fund was founded pursuant to the decision of the board of trustees of the autonomous organization of education «Nazarbayev University» dated 20 September 2015 on the basis of subsidiaries of «National Medical Holding» JSC.
