Republican Conference with international participation “Pediatric Oncology Without Borders: Little Patients — Big Victories.” | Корпоративный фонд "University Medical Center"

On September 25–26, the UMC Center for Maternal and Child Health hosted the Republican Conference with international participation “Pediatric Oncology Without Borders: Little Patients — Big Victories.”

The event brought together leading specialists from Kazakhstan and abroad to discuss pressing issues of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of children with oncological diseases.

The name of the conference reflects its central idea: every child who overcomes an oncological diagnosis is not just a patient, but a true hero whose strength, resilience, and faith inspire others. Victories of children become possible thanks to the coordinated work of doctors, the support of parents, and the courage of the young patients themselves.

The goal of the conference was to unite knowledge, experience, and efforts of specialists in the search for more effective approaches to helping children with cancer.

“The oncohematology community is, in fact, one big, close-knit family. We do not treat patients each in our own clinic — we treat them together. That is why such conferences are another opportunity to communicate, strengthen professional ties, and outline the vector for the development of our common cause. This Conference is a big, confident step into our rich and meaningful future,” shared Professor Dmitry Nikolaevich Balashov, Department of Hematology and Cell Technologies, Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology (Moscow, Russia).

The key objectives of the event included:

  • exchange of practical experience and scientific achievements;
  • discussion of modern methods and innovative technologies;
  • development of international cooperation;
  • elaboration of solutions aimed at improving the quality of treatment and the overall lives of patients.

Raigul Nusupova, pediatric oncologist-hematologist at the Department of Oncology, Children’s CAD of Pediatrics, noted:
“We focused on key aspects: early diagnosis, a personalized approach to therapy, multidisciplinary teamwork, psychosocial support for children and their families. Special attention was given to nutritional support as an integral part of comprehensive treatment, as well as the improvement of nursing practices, since nurses are the ones who ensure continuity and quality of care for patients.”

Participants agreed that these areas will define the future development of pediatric oncology in the coming years and will help give young patients more chances for a healthy future.

As part of the Conference, the charity run “Run for OncoKids” was also held, aimed at supporting children with cancer. Every kilometer became a step in support of little heroes who fight the disease every day and teach us resilience, faith, and hope.

All funds raised will go toward supporting children and their families: creating projects to improve the quality of life of young patients, as well as providing assistance to families going through this difficult journey and in need of material, moral, and social support. Each step of the participants became a symbol of hope — “Run for OncoKids” is about support, care, and faith that childhood should remain bright despite the difficult trials.
