Astana, April 24, 2025 – Today, a helicopter urgently transported a 3-month-old baby with a critical congenital heart defect from Pavlodar to the UMC Heart Center in Astana. The infant was immediately hospitalized for emergency medical care.
The child arrived accompanied by an intensive care physician from the UMC Heart Center, Yeldos Zhunussaliyev, who specifically flew to Pavlodar to provide medical support throughout the flight.
The UMC Heart Center is a leading cardiac surgery center specializing in treating the most complex congenital heart defects in children. The center’s highly qualified team of specialists possesses a unique experience and utilizes advanced medical technologies to save the lives of young patients.
This case marks only the third time in the center’s history that a helicopter has been used for patient transport. This method of emergency transport requires favorable meteorological conditions, while patients are typically transported by airplane.
The UMC Heart Center has a designated helipad on its premises, which allows for the rapid reception of patients requiring urgent medical attention.
This is particularly crucial for critical cases where every minute counts and air transportation is the only way to quickly and safely bring the patient to the clinic.
The prompt and coordinated efforts of the medical services in Astana and Pavlodar, including the UMC Heart Center’s intensive care physician’s flight, ensured the timely delivery of the child to receive the necessary care.
