The IV National Symposium of Surgical Specialists was held at the University Medical Center | Корпоративный фонд "University Medical Center"

On February 17, 2024, the University Medical Center organized the “IV National Symposium of Surgical Specialists”, which became a platform for the exchange of experience and skills in the operating unit, joint discussions and fruitful interaction between participants. The event has already become an annual meeting dedicated to the Operating Nurse International Day.

Surgical nursing specialists play a significant role in the treatment and care of patients. In addition to their main work, they actively participate in scientific projects, perform at conferences and symposiums, share their experience and continue professional development. Last year, UMC specialists opened the first school of operating nurses in Kazakhstan for training and cooperation with colleagues from other medical organizations.

The symposium was attended by about 400 specialists from the capital’s medical organizations and other regions of the country. The event was held at the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine. The participants were presented with 22 reports, each of which was accompanied by an active session of questions and answers, suggestions and comments on improving the work.

“Operating nurses have a unique profession, because everyone can delegate their functions to her, but an operating nurse cannot transfer her functions to other specialists. This profession also requires constant development, so I wish each participant of the conference to gain new knowledge, fruitful discussion and success in their work,” shared Yuriy Pya, Chairman of the Board of the University Medical Center.

During the conference, the speakers shared their knowledge, discussed the latest technologies in the field of surgical interventions, talked about the specifics of preparing pediatric patients for surgery and about the possibilities of developing surgical service in the Academic Medical Center. Also, simulations were conducted on the correct preparation of the operating table, blood loss measurements and patient preparation for surgery. During the master classes, the participants practiced the skills of providing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin.

We express our gratitude to the medical partners ABMG Meril, Bbraun, Mindray и Unicmed Asia for the support of the event.
