Nurgul Khamzina – holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine, Full professor of Medicine.

Prior to accession she held the position of the First vice-rector – acting Rector of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

Previously within 9 years she was the Director of Science and Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where her primary tasks were to develop strategic documents in the field of medical education and science, coordinate the activities of medical education and science organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, cooperate with foreign partners, participate in projects of WHO, American International Health Alliance, British Council regarding medical education.

Initiator and coordinator of the World Bank project on technology transfer and institutional reform realization in the health sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding separation of the reform of medical education and science, as well as creation of the Republican Center for Innovative Technologies in Medical Education and Science.

Developer of 3 sectoral Concepts – reforming of the medical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2006-2010, development of the medical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2011-2015, development of the medical science of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2007-2012.

She also worked as a post-graduate student, assistant, associate professor, professor, and head of the pathologic physiology department at Astana Medical University.

Author of more than 120 scientific publications, research adviser of 7 candidates of medical science and 1 holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine.

She has national and departmental awards.
