A new page has been opened in the history of Ulytau medicine: the first open—heart surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, performed by specialists from the University Medical Center, took place in «Zhezkazgan Medical Center» LLP.
This significant event was made possible by UMC’s initiative aimed at developing cardiac surgery in the regions and bringing high-tech medical care closer to residents without having to travel to major cities in the country.
The operation was performed under the supervision of Yuriy Pya, MD, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Board of UMC, one of the leading experts in the world of cardiac surgery. He and his team successfully operated on two patients, a 60—year-old woman and a 52-year-old man.
After the operations, Yuriy Pya noted that the development of regional cardiac surgery services is the key to increasing the availability of high—quality medical care: “We work on the principle that medicine should be closer to the patient. The more highly qualified assistance is available, the more developed Kazakhstan will be”.
UMC will continue its systematic work on conducting operations and training local specialists, developing cardiac surgery not only in the capital, but also in all regions of the country.
