The Center for Nuclear Medicine consists of units of radiology, radioisotope diagnostics and production of radiopharmaceuticals.

In the Unit of Production of Radiopharmaceuticals there was created the production complex, including a cyclotron 18/9 for the production of short-lived isotopes and a radiochemical laboratory for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals.

Today, nuclear diagnostics is one of the main directions of modern medicine. Medical diagnostic methods using nuclear equipment allow improving the quality of treatment of the patient several times over. One of the prospective and major areas of development of nuclear medical technologies is radioisotope diagnostics, based on the introduction into the patient's body of radiopharmaceuticals with a diagnostic aim.

Positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (PET/CT) is a new accurate and up-to-date method for early diagnostics of oncological (detection of cancer and metastasis, cancer treatment effectiveness control), cardiac (ischemic heart disease, before the coronary artery bypass grafting) and neurological (multiple sclerosis and other) diseases, it is also used in psychiatry and gerontology (Alzheimer's disease).

PET/CT provides an opportunity to get information about the metabolism at the cellular level and to identify signs of cancer at the earliest stage.

Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).

SPECT scanner is a gamma camera with a dual detector. The FORTE two-detector system produced by PHILIPS provides an optimal configuration of the detectors location relative to the patient, which also improves the image quality. The system allows conducting research, both in the mode of planar scintigraphy, and in the mode of 3D tomography.

The wide application of technetium (99m-Tc) in diagnostics is explained by the optimal nuclear and physical properties and availability of this isotope (about 75% of all research are conducted with this RP (radiopharmaceutical). RP technetium is prepared in the clinic with the sets of reagents for marking with technetium (Technetium-Kits).
